Late bicyclist, organ donor, honored at Portland International Raceway

PORTLAND -- Bicycle races at Portland International Raceway in June have been geared to awareness of being an organ and tissue donor.

The effort by the Oliphant family of Lake Oswego honors the memory of David Oliphant, who died of cardiac arrest as he finished a bike race in 2010.
David Oliphant's 50 donations have helped better the lives of 25 people, including corneas which enabled mothers to again see their children.

A booth at the races lets racers to sign up for the donation registry via donatelifenw.org, with an entry fee discount for those who do.
