It is an alarming statistic - one that prompted a group of Centenary State High School students to try to do something about it.
As part of their health education unit, Year 12 students Liv Watt, Rebecca Blower and Elizabeth Yates are putting together a promotional campaign to educate the community.
Currently, Australia has one of the lowest organ donation rates in the world with only 13.8 organ donors per million people.
