Pete Markvoort, in lieu of a 23rd birthday party threw a 1920’s themed fundraiser for Organ Transplant Ontario. It was a mix of ages and people, and was a lot of fun for all and for a great cause.
At the Historic London Club, London Ontario, the December 4,2009 evening was in celebration of Peter and his friend Jonathan Silver’s Birthdays and was a fundraiser for the Trillium Gift of Life Network. It is also to honour Pete’s dear cousin Eva’s battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
The evening celebration took them back in time to a swing club, while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres and complimentary Champaign, as everyone danced and listened to an era-appropriate swing band.
Eva Markvoort is a strong and inspiration women, she has battled Cystic Fibrosis her whole life. She received a double lung transplant, and her journey was captured in the film 65_Redroses which has already won a handful of International Film Awards. The documentary aired on CBC’s the Passionate Eye on Monday, November 16, 2009. Unfortunately her lungs have gone into rejection, and at 25 years old she is in need of a second transplant. You can follow her story on her blog.
The Trillium Gift of Life Network is a central agency responsible for Organ Transplant in Ontario, the money that was raised will be used to create awareness campaigns surrounding the need for people to sign their organ cards.
Lee Mann Photography was honoured to capture and proud to support this special celebration. Happy Birthday Pete and Jonathan and great work for a great cause.
