Team Donate Life has played a big role in the Race Across America raising funds for liver transplants, liver disease and organ donation awareness. "The Liverators" as the team from University of Utah Hospital are known, rode for Team Donate Life headed by Dr. Terry Box and Dr. Ray Thomason. The 3,000-Race Across America bike ride began on June 20 from Oceanside, CA. Team Donate Life has raised over $20,000, gaining another $100 Monday as University Health Care employees waived goodbye and good luck to one of two four-member teams.
Dr. Box was diagnosed with a malignant liver tumor in 1999. At first he did not place himself on the transplant wait list because he felt there were "patients more sick" than he was. Eventually, he was placed on the list and later received a Liver Transplant
